The Milwaukee County Zoo produced the first successful captive hatching of the rare spangled cotinga.  In 2001, our longtime resident, Babe, the African Elephant, passed away.  She had been part of the Zoo’s collection since 1962.  The Zoo acquired Brittany to help surviving elephant, Lucy, cope with the loss.
