Herb and Nada Mahler Family Aviary
The Aviary, completely rebuilt in 1990, presents a voyage departing from a South American Port, with its first stop in Antarctic where the tourist can see the world distribution of Penguins, represented by King and Rock Hopper Penguins in a simulated Antartic setting. Our tourist then walks through a free flying waterbird area, with such birds as the Inca Tern, several species of ducks and other waterbirds. A short walk takes our guests past the exotic birds of the Neotropical Rainforest, African Savannah, Shorebirds, and on to interactive exhibits. Last but certainly not least, visitors should see the Guam Kingfisher, with which the zoo is participating in a breeding program that has successfully added to the world population which had been reduced by man's intervention to less than 50, and the Australian Kookaburra.
